The (platform, toolchain) mapping lived in both __main__ and the esp8266 component, so a renamed backend module meant editing two places and the drift test only covered one. build_helpers/native.py now holds it; the module stays import-light so the serial upload and logs fast path can resolve a backend without pulling in a platform package.
